Female metal worker apprentice at NOVENCO receives top grade
NOVENCO Building & Industry is pleased to announce that our apprentice Marie Carmel has passed an important milestone on the road to becoming a certified metal worker. For her second internship period she received the grade 10 on her examination, which is the next-highest grade possible. The metal worker education consists of two basic school periods and three internship periods before the final practical examination.
For this intermediate examination project Marie chose to make a motorcycle-themed bar stool. The stool is impressive and has been well received.
In spite of the high level of skills displayed with the stool, the education has not been a walk in the park for Marie. In the spring of 2018 she injured her knee and had to postpone a part of the school period, due to which she had to struggle to make up for lost time.
Nowadays sheet metal workers and welders are low in number and especially female ones. In the past 15 years, NOVENCO has had two metal worker apprentices. Marie is the third and only female metal worker. To further her education and to inform on the many career opportunities, she attends promotional events at education fairs and schools. She graduates in June 2021.
Congratulations on the great grade from NOVENCO Building & Industry.
